As part of the Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole curriculum, teams complete a Community Impact Project. This gives participants the opportunity to identify a need, choose a project that matters to them, and work together to create positive change. From brainstorming ideas to completing their projects, girls practice teamwork, empathy, leadership, communication, and confidence in a real and meaningful way.
These projects remind our participants that giving back does not have to be complicated to be powerful. Sometimes, impact starts with one team, one idea, and one shared goal.
This season, two of our teams put their Heart Power into action through projects focused on caring for the people and places around them.
Greater Holy Temple: Spring Cleaning
The Girls on the Run team at Greater Holy Temple Christian Academy completed a Community Impact Project called “Spring Cleaning.” The team came together to clean, organize, and care for their shared space while celebrating the joy of teamwork.
Their project was a beautiful example of what happens when girls use their voices, energy, and Heart Power to support their community. Their coaches shared that the team had fun working together and ended the season with true Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole spirit.
As the team looks forward to the upcoming 5K walk, they are carrying the confidence they built throughout the season. After weeks of practicing hard, growing together, and encouraging one another, the girls are ready to celebrate everything they have accomplished.

E.W. Luther Elementary School: Advocating for Grant Park Improvements
The Girls on the Run team at E.W. Luther Elementary School chose a Community Impact Project focused on using their voices to advocate for positive change in their community.
After identifying improvements they would like to see at Grant Park, the girls wrote letters sharing their ideas and concerns. Those letters were sent to the County Supervisors who have responsibility for the park, giving participants the opportunity to practice leadership, communication, and civic engagement in a meaningful way.
This project reminded the girls that their voices matter and that speaking up is one powerful way to care for the spaces they use, love, and share with others. By advocating for improvements at Grant Park, the E.W. Luther team put their confidence into action and showed that community impact can start with a thoughtful idea and the courage to share it.
Their project is a beautiful example of Heart Power in motion: girls recognizing a need, working together, and using their voices to help make their community better.

Bruce Guadalupe: Trash Pick-Up
The Girls on the Run team at Bruce Guadalupe chose a Community Impact Project focused on caring for the environment and their school community through a trash pick-up project.
Together, the girls rolled up their sleeves, worked as a team, and helped make their shared space cleaner and brighter. Their project showed how small actions can create a big impact when everyone works together with purpose.
Through this project, participants practiced leadership, responsibility, and teamwork while seeing firsthand that giving back can start right where they are. By choosing to clean up their community, the Bruce Guadalupe team reminded us that community care is a powerful way to show Heart Power in action.

Community Impact in Action
Community Impact Projects are one of the many ways Girls on the Run helps participants see themselves as leaders. By choosing and completing a project together, girls learn that their ideas matter and their actions can create meaningful change.
Every project tells a story of teamwork, confidence, and girls discovering that they already have what it takes to leave their community better than they found it.
This season, our teams are putting memories in motion one act of kindness, one project, and one powerful step at a time.
